Tips "How To Save Graphics" It is very much appreciated when a web site links to DCA. In order to link to daycarealert.com it means you have a web site. Rather than assume everyone knows how to write html (someone may have coded the site for you) this page provides some basic tips on how to save a graphic. In addition, there is information about the proper way to save the graphic on another server (yours). Saving to your web space is the correct way to link to a graphic and it prevents nasty surprises, (no image on your page) since we change our graphics from time to time. To download the graphic you have chosen (using a PC) just click the right mouse button or (using a Mac)hold down the mouse button while the cursor is over the relevant graphic.
Choose the (Netscape) 'SAVE IMAGE AS' or (MS Internet Explorer) 'SAVE PICTURE AS' option to save the image. A dialog box will open that gives you the chance to select where on your Hard Drive you want to store the image. Make a note of where you save the image on your hard drive.
After you have completed the HTML code and placed the code in your web page, upload the altered page and the graphic to your web space using your normal procedures. Most of the time the files are moved from your local (the PC you are using) computer to your web server is by FTP (File Transfer Protocol). This can be a seperate program or can be part of the HTML editing program. If you are unsure of where to move the image and html file, contact your hosting provider. If you need an FTP program take a look at these two. CUTE_FTP and WS_FTP Some folks think that they can link to the displayed image on the DCA site. While that is possible it is the wrong thing to do. Please do not link directly to these graphics, as they will change and be removed resulting in ugly broken and missing graphics on your pages. There are several web sites and organization that go into detail about this problem. Netbible Guide, HRC's Netiquette Page and Web Guard REMEMBER! pull the button or banner from YOUR OWN SERVER! and link it to the site URL.
